The development of Mila d'Opiz
Mila Opitz, the founder, never thought that Mila d'Opiz would become one of the largest cosmetics manufacturers in Switzerland and would offer products all over the world. It all started in 1938. Mila Opitz made organic facial creams for herself. The company has evolved rapidly since then. But some things have remained the same: the focus on quality, innovation, responsibility and partnership. It all started with Good Face Cream.
As for many people, the care of the skin also starts with Mila d'Opiz with Good Face Cream. This was also the first step that eventually led to where the brand now stands. The search for a good face cream from the founder of the company Mila Opitz-Altherr.
Not finding a cream suitable for her skin problems, she started to produce cosmetics herself. In 1938 Mila Opitz-Altherr developed the first cosmetic products. Her skin problems motivated young Emilie Opitz-Altherr to experiment with care products.
In collaboration with a dermatologist, Emilie Opitz, called Mila by family and friends, succeeds in creating an innovative novelty: a special hormone cream. In 1945 she founded the cosmetics company Milopa. Which is an abbreviation of the name Mila Opitz-Altherr.
Exports outside Switzerland started in 1950. Many developments have followed over the years. A name change to Mila d'Opiz, an increase in exports. The move to a larger building. In addition, the brand is the first cosmetic brand to be ISO certified (quality certificate ISO 9001). Thanks to a seamless quality control from the delivery of the raw materials to packaging and distribution, M. Opitz & Co. AG is also the only cosmetics manufacturer in Switzerland approved for the production and packaging of pharmaceutical products. The company already complies with the standards introduced in the EU in 1997.
Many innovations, new products and prices are achieved. With the "Phyto DS Forbidden Serum" the company presents a further innovation. And it wins another important prize: it receives the “European SPA & Health Award” for the most innovative cosmetic product in Switzerland.
